Worried about how you’re going to get around when you get to UF? Worry no more all of your transportation needs can be found below.
#1: Bus System (RTS)
As a freshman this will be your most commonly used form of transportation. Always make sure to have your Gator 1 handy, as it is your ticket on the bus. There are routes that will get you anywhere you need to go in Gainesville.

There is also a route called the Later Gator that functions from 8:30 pm up to 3:05 pm. There are a limited amount of buses at this time but the routes cover a wider span. This is great for those late night outings!

Download this app to monitor the location of the buses at all times down to the minute of arrival to the next stop.
#2: Snap
The Student Nighttime Auxiliary Patrol, SNAP, is a completely free transportation service provided nightly to University of Florida’s students and staff. It is sponsored by Student Government and traffic court, as well as the University of Florida Police Department. The drivers are fellow students who have successfully completed a background check, training, and driving test.
1. How to Ride
a. You can request a ride by calling (352) 392-7627. Just call and discuss your transportation request with one of the dispatchers on the line.
Just provide name, pick-up location, and desired destination and a driver will arrive shortly.
2. Hours of Operation
a. Fall and Spring Semesters: 6:30 PM to 3:00 AM
b. Summer Semester: 8:30 PM to 3:00 AM
#3: Uber
Uber is a transportation service that uses an app on your phone to locate you and connect you with the nearest Uber drivers. You can get picked up anywhere and go anywhere by the click of a button. There is a fee but it is all paid through the app so there is no need to worry about having cash to pay.
Tip: Recently the University of Florida has partnered with Uber to offer an exclusive deal, UF SAFE RIDES:
Wednesday through Saturday from 10pm to 3am, UF students can use this transportation service in a designated boundary for 50% off.

#4: Gotcha
This service is totally free!! It’s a fun way to get around town, while helping companies market their businesses. Just call them up and say GOTCHA and you’ll be on your way.

#5: Zipcar
The ability to rent cars at the age of 18 is unheard of!! With Zipcar that has changed. With the UF student population in mind zipcar allows for students at the age of 18 to rent cars from on campus locations for an hourly or daily fee. All you have to do is:

a. With this card you can reserve your car and pick it up within minutes.

#6: Gator Lift
Gator Lift is a free shuttle service that works within the University’s campus for faculty, students, and staff with mobility related disabilities. The shuttles can hold up to ten passengers, two wheelchairs, and include lifts making them easily accessible.
How to Ride:
You must place an appointment to utilize this service. Each ride request must by turned in by 3:30pm on the business day prior to the requested appointment time. If submitted after that time the appointment will not be added to the schedule.

#7: Driving on Campus (Cars, Motorcycles, Scooters)
Driving on campus is always an option, if you prefer this then you must get a decal. If you do not get a decal you will be ticketed if you park in unauthorized areas. Arrive on campus early because available parking spots are scarce.

2. Park & Ride -- Available to undergraduate students living off-campus
a. Allows holder to park in “Any Decal” parking areas (except where prohibited by signage)

3. Red 1 -- Available to students who have completed 50 or more credit hours (credits must be completed by the beginning of the Fall semester
of a given academic year to be counted towards Red 1 eligibility during that same academic year) and who live on-campus

i. Annual -- $160.00

4. Red 3 -- Available to students who have completed fewer than 50 credit hours and who live on-campus

5. Brown 2 -- Available to students living in Corry and Maguire Family Housing Villages.
a. Allows holder to park in Brown 2 Area facilities and “Any Decal” parking areas

6. Brown 3 -- Available to students living in Diamond Family Housing Village
a. Allows holder to park in Brown 3 Area facilities and “Any Decal” parking areas

7. Disabled Student -- Available to Disabled Students
a. Allows holder to park in Disabled, Orange, Blue, Commuter, Red 1, All Red, Brown, and “Any Decal” parking areas

8. Motorcycle/Scooter -- Available to all members of the UF community
